Dads Matter Saturday Seminar Offered Strategies for Dealing with Important Parenting Issues

October 5, 2010 by Seth Caton

Attorney, Dads Matter staff, others presented on child custody, support, discipline and money management

UNIONTOWN, Pa. - Fatherhood education program Dads Matter hosted their latest free "Saturday Seminar" on Saturday, September 25, 2010 in the Corporate Training Wing of the Eberly Building at Penn State Fayette in Uniontown. Over 20 parents attended this event. Participants chose one of two sessions to attend: (1) Child Custody/Child Support or (2) Child Discipline/Money Management.

Dads who attended the Custody/Support session learned from Attorney Sheryl Heid and Mr. David Wenger about how the court system works in custody situations, how to work with it, and how to prepare for mediation or a court hearing.

In the Discipline/Money Management session, attendees learned from Dads Matter staff Bill Huebner and Mark LeVan how to manage their children's inappropriate behavior, encourage good behavior, and build stronger relationships with their children. Attendees then had an opportunity to discuss new perspectives on money management and how to teach money management skills to their children with Dads Matter staff Seth W. Caton and Ryan Butter.

Both seminar sessions started at 9:00 a.m. and ended at 11:00 a.m. and were followed by a combined lunch where fathers asked questions of the morning's speakers.
