January 6, 2011 by Courtney DeCarlucci
Tim Yurcisin, president of the Private Industry Council of Westmoreland/Fayette, Inc., is pleased to announce that Brad Geyer has been hired as the Fayette Energy Project Supervisor, effective January 3, 2011. Funded through a grant from the U.S. Department of Energy, the Fayette Energy Project is a county initiative focused on making significant energy improvements and creating jobs in the community.
Fayette County Commissioner Vince Zapotosky, in explaining why the County pursued this opportunity said,
“Energy has become not only an environmental issue, but also an economic one. This funding will help stimulate the entrepreneurship of new business and expand existing businesses through educating the public about, and training individuals for, emerging energy efficient industries.”
Zapotosky also went on to say that this funding will help offset the expense of making homes more energy efficient.
As a 2000 graduate of Connellsville Area HS and 2004 Political Science graduate of California University of PA, Brad brings a unique skill set to the project. He was elected to Connellsville City Council in 2003, and has served the City since. His passion for community involvement has led him to be involved in several great organizations. He is a district officer for the Lions District 14-M, and a past president of the Connellsville Lions Club; and a current member of Elks 503; Moose 16; King Solomon’s Lodge 346; and Knights of Columbus 948. You can see Brad performing regularly in Community Theater productions at the Geyer Performing Arts Center, and when not on stage he is in the board room as President of The Geyer’s Board of Directors. Some of his favorite roles have been Felix Unger in The Odd Couple, Thomas Jefferson in 1776, and Frank Butler in Annie Get Your Gun.
Tim Yurcisin, in announcing Brad’s employment with PIC, said:
“We are pleased to welcome Brad to our organization. He is coming to us with a great deal of enthusiasm that will assist us in helping to make the Fayette Energy Project a success and moving individuals into renewable energy and energy efficient jobs in Fayette County.”. |
