PIC Connection Has Moved to Brownsville Area School District's External TV
May 11, 2010
On December 22, Fayette County lost its only local television station, HSTV Channel 19. For 17 years HSTV broadcasted local news, events and family friendly programming, including the PIC Connection.
With the closing of the station, PIC was in desperate need for a new home for the PIC Connection. At a recent presentation at the Westmoreland/Fayette Workforce Investment Board, PIC president Tim Yurcisin learned about the Brownsville Area Senior High School Television Production Lab. Tim spoke to long-time PIC Connection host, John Evans, about the possibility of using this resource to continue the PIC Connection. John, an employment and training supervisor at the Fayette CareerLink® and former member of the Brownsville Area School Board, spoke with Dr. Phil Savini, superintendent of the Brownsville Area School District, resulting in PIC partnering with Ms. Brittany Nuzzo's Television Production class to bring the PIC Connection back. Ms. Nuzzo's students will be able to gain valuable hands-on experience producing and editing the PIC Connection show as well as conducting interviews and learning about the various programs and services PIC offers.
The half hour show will air once per month during the school year (September through May) on Brownsville Area School District's External TV, accessible via the district's website at www.BASD.org.
The premier PIC Connection show on Brownsville's External TV features Tami Ozegovich, PIC's director of education, discussing this summer's youth and young adult summer work experience program in Westmoreland and Fayette counties.
