2010 YouCUBE Summer Programming

The Youth Careers Utilizing Basic Engineering (YouCUBE) summer programming will begin on Wednesday June 11, 2010. Twenty high school students from Westmoreland County schools will be touring ten schools and companies over the 11-day program. This year's scheduled tours include PDS, Firestone, WCCC, Wyotech, California University of Pennsylvania, Solar Power Industries, Irwin Automation, BAE Systems, Columbia Northwest and Paradigm Aerospace. In addition, a representative of the Westmoreland CareerLink® will walk the youth through a job search presentation.

The youth will also build, program and battle LEGO Mindstorm robots. Additional activities include a pasta bridge building contest, a duck tape design project, and a hot air balloon project. All youth participants will receive a stipend for their participation in this event.
