Head Start/Early Head Start of Fayette County celebrates Dental Education Month

Head Start/Early Head Start of Fayette County celebrated Dental Education Month during February by providing Oral Health Education to their classrooms and home based areas. Registered Nursing students from the Penn State Fayette Campus along with Head Start LPNs provided a lesson with the help of ELMO’S Ready, Set, Brush pop-up book. Children over the age of one year received a light up toothbrush, toothpaste and dental floss. Children under one year of age received spiffies tooth wipes.
“Smile for Life“ is a program that is now available to families in Fayette County and is sponsored by The Oral Health Task Force. Currently there are three dentists in Fayette County that have signed up to participate in the program; Dr. Geshay, Dr. Shelton and Dr. Lazo.
