PIC's Donna Cartia to be announced as the School Counselors Advocate of the Year!
November 2, 2011
The Private Industry Council is proud to announce that Education Coordinator, Donna Cartia, has been chosen as the Pennsylvania School Counselors Advocate of the Year.
Donna was chosen for the work she has done to help school counselors in the state of Pennsylvania. She was instrumental in terms of assisting with professional development opportunities, such as the National American School Counselors Association Model training.
Prior to her position as the Education Coordinator, Donna served as the Regional Career Education Partnership Coordinator for Westmoreland and Fayette counties at PIC. Through this work she was an active member of the Career Development Leaders Network, which was responsible for the Career Education and Work Standards website along with the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) Standards Alignment Systems for the Career Education and Work Standards (CEWS) integration pilot.
In addition, along with Dr. Judy Bookhamer, Donna assisted in writing the crosswalk which shows direct correlation between the CEWS standards and the American School Councelors Association (ASCA) model standards. This crosswalk appears in the Pennsylvania Department of Education PA Companion Guide, for use by all 501 school districts in the state.
Donna will be accepting her award at the Pennsylvania School Councelors Association (PASCA) Conference dinner on December 2, 2011, in Lancaster, PA.
