Celebration of Achievement!
November 23, 2011
On October 26, 2011, the annual Celebration of Achievement was held at the Private Industry Council's corporate office in Greensburg. The evening honored GED graduates from PIC's Adult Education classes in Westmoreland and Fayette Counties, as well as graduates from the Education and Technology Institute (ETI).
After welcoming statements were given by Tami Ozegovich, the Director of Education, she introduced the attending administration, the Adult Education staff, and the ETI staff. Tami also recognized several PIC board members that were in the audience for this notable celebration.
The keynote speaker for the evening was Roger Briscoe, Ph. D. who is an Associate Professor in the Department of Educational and School Psychology, at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Briscoe's speech was motivational, stressing how education enriches each of us further than we ever imagine, and it is something that can never be taken away from an individual.
Adam Shaffer and Cheryl Shaffer, GED and ETI graduates, each spoke about their journey toward achieving the goals that they had set as they began their individualized programs.
Each of the attending graduates received a Certificate of Recognition and were commended by Tami Ozegovich; Tim Yurcisin, President and CEO of the Private Industry Council; and Dr. Briscoe and his wife, Cheryl Briscoe.
A closing prayer was offered by Cheryl Briscoe and those in attendance enjoyed a meal with family and staff to further celebrate their achievement, provided by the Private Industry Council.
