Waste Management donates $10,000 to PIC!
November 9, 2011
On Thursday, November 3, 2011, A.J. DiPietro and Danielle Gero of Waste Management presented the Private Industry Council with a check for $10,000. This donation was made available through the Education Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program offered by the Commonwealth's Department of Community and Economic Development.
This generous donation will be used to benefit PIC's after school Fayette Enrichment program in Fayette County.
The Fayette Enrichment Program is funded through the 21st Century Community Learning Center (CCLC) program, through the Pennsylvania Department of Education. PIC currently administers five community learning centers that provide a comprehensive array of after school and summer educational programming to students in grades 6-12 in four Fayette County school districts; Albert Gallatin, Brownsville, Connellsville, and Uniontown Area School District. The program provides academic, artistic, and cultural enrichment activities to students and their families outside of normal school hours. These activities include tutoring and homework assistance in math and reading, expanding learning in technology and science based areas, and a variety of physical/nutritional education and character building activities as well.
EITC donations give corporations up to a 90% tax credit for contributions made to a qualified organization. If you are interested in how your organization can participate, you may contact the PIC grants writer, Rachel Saul, by email at rsaul@privateindustrycouncil.com or by phone at 724-836-2600, ext. 235.
For more information regarding how to register a student in the Fayette Enrichment program, contact Andreia Sands by email at asands@privateindustrycouncil.com or by phone at 724-437-2590 ext. 325.
PIC Vice President of Finance, John Sproull along with Vice President of Operations Terri Campbell and Director of Education, Tami Ozegovich, had the pleasure of showing Mr. DiPietro and Mrs. Gero the PIC Corporate Headquarters. The Private Industry Council appreciates the support of Waste Management and the impact that their EITC contribution will make on education in Fayette County.
