2004 CELEBRATION OF ACHIEVEMENT
The Private Industry Council of Westmoreland/Fayette, Inc. (PIC)'s Adult Education Department held its Third Annual Celebration of Achievement on October 6, 2004.

For the first time, the event was held at PIC's new corporate facility, located off of Donahue Road in Greensburg.

The event was attended by over 100 people, with many students and their families rearranging their schedules to attend the event. All students receiving their GED were recognized for their achievements.

The program for the event featured remarks by Pennsylvania State Representatives Jess Stairs and Ted Harhai, and Westmoreland Count Commissioner Tom Balya's Chief of Staff, Ted Kopas. These individuals have been long time supporters of education in Southwestern Pennsylvania.

PIC student speaker Shawnathan Terry also provided a heartfelt speech describing his journey toward a GED diploma and the importance of continually striving to overcome obstacles, external and internal, to accomplish goals. He stressed that without the help of family and friends he wouldn't have been able to achieve his GED.

A reception followed the program.
