Posted on August 29, 2008
The Private Industry Council of Westmoreland/Fayette, Inc. (PIC), is pleased to announce that it has received a second donation from Argon ST in support of PIC's Family Literacy program. Argon ST, Inc. a Department of Defense Contractor, designs, develops, and produces systems and sensors for the Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Combat Systems, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance markets including SIGINT (Signals Intelligence), EMS (Electronic Support Measures), EW (Electronic Warfare), IO (Information Operations), imaging, and acoustic systems serving domestic and international markets. Argon ST is located in the Fayette Business Park in Smithfield, PA.
The Argon ST donations are used to sponsor Family Literacy Events in Uniontown, PA. These events, as part of PIC's Family Literacy interactive literacy activities, enable parents and children to engage in literacy-based work and play activities as a family and ensure that new educational experiences are transferred into the home. The literacy events include storytelling and related literacy activities, role plays, arts and crafts, and a healthful snack. In addition, during each literacy activity, every child is given an age-appropriate book to take home to begin a library of their own.
As a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, PIC's mission is to educate, encourage, and empower family and individual development and create career enhancement opportunities through education, training, and workforce development, which will perpetuate and improve the quality of life in Southwestern Pennsylvania. The generosity and commitment of Argon ST to the continued success of PIC's Family Literacy program is very much appreciated.
