EDUCATION AND CAREER DAY HELD

The PA CareerLink, Westmoreland, the Westmoreland-Fayette Workforce Investment Board (WIB), and the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA), partnered to host Education and Career Day 2006. The event was held on Monday, May 8, 2006, from 9:00 am - 4:00 pm. at the PA CareerLink, Westmoreland site, located on the Youngwood Campus of Westmoreland County Community College (WCCC).

Over 800 unemployed southwestern Pennsylvanians, and over 60 educational institutions were invited to attend. The event provided opportunities in the region for education and employment. Scheduling this event in a central location allowed all customers to receive the most crucial information all in one place.

The event was kicked off by opening remarks by Tim Yurcisin, President, Private Industry Council, and by William Thompson, Executive Director, Westmoreland/Fayette Workforce Investment Board. Additional speakers included US Congressman Tim Murphy, 18th District.
