The Westmoreland-Fayette Workforce Investment Board (WIB) received a grant from the PA Department of Labor to fund a Career Education Partnership project. Managed by the Private Industry Council of Westmoreland/Fayette, Inc. (PIC), the project will support and extend Pennsylvania's high school reform and career preparation strategies in Westmoreland and Fayette Counties.

This project is intended to support collaboration between area schools, businesses, youth service providers, and other stakeholders to ensure that Westmoreland and Fayette County youth benefit vocationally and academically from participation in school-based and work-based career education activities; to provide increasing opportunities and options for employers to impact the acquisition of career-related skills; and to provide continuing opportunities for school personnel to work with employers to better understand the local labor market and skill needs and, thereby, better facilitate a variety of career preparation activities for youth.

The name Career Horizons was chosen for the partnership to reflect the bright future that lies "just on the horizon" for this area's current and future workforce. We believe this partnership can help light the pathway for our youth to explore and design their future's full potential.
