Family Literacy
The Family Literacy Program addresses the educational needs of the "whole family." It helps parents become partners in the education of their children. The program is open to parents with at least one child from the ages of birth to 3rd grade.
It integrates Adult Education with the three following components:
Early Childhood Education
- Children learn to share, take turns, and work in groups
- Designed to ensure an easy transition from preschool to elementary school.
Parent Education
- Parents assist children with homework
- Parents provide a home environment that promotes learning
- Establishes family plans/career goals
PACT (Parent-Child Together Time)
- Guided parent and child interaction in a supportive environment
- Activities are fun and encourage involvement of both child and parent
