The Private Industry Council of Westmoreland/Fayette, Inc. is pleased to announce that its Head Start/Early Head Start Department will sponsor Literacy Night events in Fayette County.
The Private Industry Council has been the grantee for Head Start of Fayette County for thirteen years, and the grantee of Early Head Start of Fayette County for nine years. The programs serve a total of 781 children in the Fayette County area.
In April the Head Start/Early Head Start programs sponsor “Literacy Night” at various Head Start centers throughout Fayette County. Literacy Nights provide an opportunity for enrolled families and children to socialize in an educational setting. Stories come alive, fun-filled learning activities are scheduled, and a healthy snack is provided. The books being featured at this year’s Literacy Night events are "If You Give a Pig a Pancake" and "This Is Monday".
Literacy Nights dates and locations for this year include: April 10-at the Fiddler’s Building at the Fayette County Fairgrounds; April 17-at the Republic Firemen’s Social Hall in Redstone Township and at the Nemacolin Head Start site in Farmington; April 24-at All Saints School in Masontown; May 1-at the Mill Run Head Start site; and May 8-at the North Union Head Start site in Uniontown. All events will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
