S.P.O.C.
Single Point of Contact Program
- The Single Point of Contact (SPOC) program addresses the needs of welfare clients with barriers to employment. The program design focuses on collaboration of Workforce Investment Area, County Assistance Office and CareerLink Centers, intensified case management, and specifically developed remediation, education/training, work activities and supportive services targeted to welfare clients with serious employment barriers.
- The SPOC program prepares clients for entry into the workforce through education/training, work experience, community service, and subsidized employment opportunities. Intensive case management and job development are provided by the Local Management Committee (LMC) to ensure that clients overcome barriers and obtain employment. The LMC offers literacy and Adult Basic Education as part of its feeder program.
- There are two components to the SPOC program, one component is for those individuals who have received cash assistance (TANF) for less than 24 months and the second component is for those who have received TANF for more than 24 months, but fewer than 60 months.
- In the past year, PIC has enrolled over 100 individuals into the SPOC program.
